This is an allegory of motherly love. The use of the yellow Iris and the fleur-de-lis serve as symbols of love and silent grief. The birds are representing departed souls, and the moon and the stars represent peace. In Spain, the retrospective exhibits of Sorrolla and Mucha impressed me greatly.
