On the north-east corner of Prague Castle is the “Golden Lane”. The residence of Madame de Thebes, a famous clairvoyant and fortune-teller, was in a tiny blue house, Number 14. My student, Magdalena Niles, seemed the perfect choice to model for this prophetess, whose real name was Magdalena Prusova. Madame de Thebes died during interrogation by the Nazis after she predicted the death of Adolf Hitler, and the fall of the Third Reich.
